stormThis week, there was a major storm in the cloud that resulted in a service outage that affected our cloud instances hosted with Amazon Web Services. The outage not only affected our servers, but those of sites such as Reddit who use the same infrastructure as us. The duration was about 12 hours during which there was limited access to the services provisioned on the affected infrastructure. We learnt a lot during this outage and are taking steps to ensure that we can increase the reliability of our services to even higher levels than it is currently. This was the first such incident in over a year since we moved to cloud hosting.
